Tampa Bay Buccaneers-Detroit Lions NFL Week 7 Betting Preview

Betting on the NFL Week 7 match up between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Detroit Lions involves betting on two teams who have performed surprisingly well throughout the beginning of the season. However, betting on this contest is also considered quite challenging by many football handicappers because many bettors have not yet become fully familiar with the strengths and weaknesses of each team. This game will be played in Detroit and right now SBG Global is listing the Lions as two point betting favorites.

The Lions are particularly difficult to bet upon because their performances have varied so tremendously. In the team’s three victories they have shown a potent offense with a passing attack that at times appears unstoppable. However, the Lions’ two losses have both been brutal – a 56-21 drubbing by the Eagles and a 34-3 blowout by the Redskins – and have reminded gamblers of betting on the hopeless Lions of years past. Despite the Lions losses, the team’s passing attack is one of the most dangerous in the league, leading many gamblers to consider betting on the over/unders in Lions games. However, the Lions defense has been nothing short of atrocious. They are allowing an average of 31 points a game, which ranks them at a pathetic 31st in the NFL. The Lions have certainly been working on defensive issues during their bye-week, and will surely take advantage of their rest and extra preparation time when they face the Bucs. If the Lions can win this game and extend their record to 4-2 then they will help reassure those considering betting on this team in the future. On the other hand, if the Lions are defeated and fall to 3-3 then they risk allowing the surging Packers to begin pulling away from the pack in the NFC North.

The Buccaneers have been one of the surprise success stories of 2007 and those who have had the foresightedness to have been betting on the Bucs throughout the season have surely profited from such wonderful handicapping. The Bucs are currently 4-2, meaning they have already won as many games as they did in last year’s 4-12 debacle. The offense, led by veteran quarterback Jeff Garcia, has not been flashy – averaging a mere 18 points per game – but they have protected the ball and managed the clock well enough to earn several big victories. In fact, Garcia amazingly has yet to throw an interception this year. However, the Bucs success clearly rests on the shoulders of the team’s reinvigorated defense. The Bucs defense is allowing a mere 14.5 points per game, which ranks the squad at 5th in the NFL. In other words, matching up one of the league’s strongest defenses and one of the league’s strongest offenses, the Lions, has the potential to create a great game, which is why this contest is sure to generate lots of betting interest. If the Bucs defense is able to hold up against the Lions passing attack then they will likely easily cover the tiny two point betting spread and probably earn their fifth victory of the year. However, if the Bucs cannot stop Jon Kitna and the Lions offense, then it is unlikely that the Bucs will be able to hang with the Lions in a high-scoring shoot out.

NBA Davids to Goliaths

It's not often you see NBA trades or free agent moves that turn around the fortunes of teams fast. When you look at recent NBA champs (the Lakers, Spurs, Pistons and Heat) it was a combination of things that built them. The Spurs hit the draft lottery jackpot with Tim Duncan in 1997, while the Lakers and Heat won their titles with Shaq in the middle. Shaq went as a free agent to LA in 1996, then was traded to Miami in 2004. But the Lakers, Celtics and Suns have been the focus of the league this season because of key trades. The Celtics were the ultimate worst to first story, an NB. . .
