Secrets on Texas Holdem Bluffing

Learn the forgotten art of playing Texas Holdem. Get information about when to bluff at poker and when not to.

Bluffing in Poker and particularly in Texas Holdem is a very useful tool, but if it is not used properly it can be a very dangerous tool to try and use. If used right bluffing can give you the appearance of having a good hand when you have nothing and scare the other players into folding their hands, but if it is not done right then all that happens is that you lose some money.

1) You should only try to bluff after several of the players have folded the more players in on the hand the better the chances that someone will figure out your bluff, or someone may not be skilled enough to realize our are giving off the appearance of betting on a good hand and may continue playing and beat you because of their stupidity, but the point is that a large crowd is harder to fool then a smaller one.

3) If you are in the last position before the dealer and no one has raised the pot raise the hand bigger then anyone raised th4e hand so far. This will tell the other players you have a strong hand, and since no one raised the hand in the last round it means that they have no confidence in their hands or they are hoping to get the card they need in the next round, and a large bet here may make them change their minds about staying in the hand, but do not make the bet ridiculously large the good players at the table will see thru you and will call your bluff.

3) If you are seated in such a way that your turn is last, then, raise the bet more than usual if no one else has raised it before you. This means that none of the others have strong enough cards to win, but they are hoping to get the cards that will turn their hand into a formidable one. Such players may get frightened if they notice you betting with large amounts. This is the time to bluff. But bet just enough to frighten away the meek but not to shake the bold. Then, these will remain thinking you are bluffing.

d) If you win a round of betting and the other Texas holdem players see that you did it with a big hand, then for the next few rounds you are at a big advantage. The memory of your high-value Texas Holdem sequence will linger in your opponents' minds and this will help you tremendously if you bluff. Each other player will think twice before challenging your hand.

5) If on the flop a pair is revealed and the value of the pair is less then nine then there is a good chance that a strong bluff now will make people think you either already have a pair in your hand or you at least have the third card of that value in your hand giving you a 3 of a kind.

f) Just like in other games, you have to memorize the playing patterns of your opponents. Some will hesitate, some will bet always while others will think and then make their move confidently. What you have to do is to look for those particular players that are playing Texas Holdem carefully without taking any risks. These are the ones that you can bluff and make them fold their cards even if your cards amount to a big zero.

Closure: Bluffing is not very different than lying on a test or to friends. If you are a good liar, you will be able to bluff with a lot more confidence than others. But you need to reduce the amount you lie because whereas in life people tend to believe you, in Texas Hold'em, players tend not to believe you.

How can you tell if you have gambling problem?

I love to gamble, without any doubt! It could be Blackjack, CRAPS, my favorite, Video Poker, and just an outside chance to make a quick buck. I have learned that the quick buck in is a quicker buck out! I quit!!! Why? The T.V. series Monk makes fun of the OCB, Obsessive Compulsive Behavior, but in real life has its exposure in many forms. Gambling is one of the most compelling forms of OCB you can find and probable the most damaging. After coming home with a bad loss, I don’t know how many times, I have prayed to stop. Two or three days later, all is forgotten, and I am back doi. . .
